ELD Replacement

Replacing an ELD is easier to assess when you begin with the reason for changing, not with a feature list. Use this page to organize the questions, people and operating details that should be considered before you choose a different system.

The aim is to make the decision deliberate and workable for your operation.

1. Start with the reason for changing

Write down what is causing the review. It may be a workflow that no longer fits, information that is hard to find, support that does not match the way you work, or a system that has become difficult to manage.

Keep the list specific. A clear problem is easier to compare than a general wish for something better.

2. Review the way you operate today

Map the people who use the current system, the vehicles involved, the records your operation relies on and the points where work changes hands.

Note what must continue during any change and what can wait. This is an internal planning exercise; it does not assume that information or settings can be carried between systems.

3. Separate requirements from preferences

Divide your review into three groups: what the operation must have, what would improve the day-to-day experience, and what is useful but not essential.

Ask drivers, managers and the person responsible for records to review that list separately. Their priorities may not be the same, and those differences are worth resolving before a decision is made.

Identify your vehicle connection

Gather the identifying and technical details for each vehicle, then check how the connection works for each vehicle.

Plan the change before choosing a date

Decide who owns the review, who communicates with drivers and managers, and who checks that the new operating process is understood.

Build the plan around your own operating demands. Allow room to review the setup and resolve questions without tying the page to a promised schedule or outcome.

Review Driver ELD

The Driver ELD page is the controlling place to review the approved product information currently available. Read it alongside your requirements rather than treating this page as a product comparison.
